Renault is back to motorsports in 2015 to join the Petrobras Brands Cup

Renault is back to auto racing in Brazil. As of March 22, at the Goiânia Circuit, Renault will be competing in the 1st leg of the Petrobras Brands Cup - 2015 season.
The announcement was made during an edition of the Golden Helmet event organized by Racing magazine to award Brazilian drivers that stood out in local and international championships.
 
Four units of the 2015 New Fluence were tuned to join the Brazilian competition. Two teams still to be defined, with two units of Renault’s midsize sedan, will sport the Renault colors to face other brands that compete in the Championship. The Fluence already takes part in other major motorsports competitions in South America, such as the TC 2000 Championships, held in Argentina and Colombia.
 
“Competition is embedded in the brand’s genes. Renault’s presence on race tracks, especially in the Brazilian Brands Championship, is a major opportunity to improve the brand’s visibility and enhance its relationship with present and future customers”, says Caique Ferreira, Communications Director at Renault Brazil.
 
It all started in 1898, when Louis Renault realized that sports competitions were an extraordinary means of showing his cars. As a result, he took part in a number of competitions in the company of his brother Marcel, with a car built by him at the time.
 
It was in Formula 1, though, that the brand made its major accomplishments. Renault joined the competition in 1977 and, in the last 37 years, it won 12 world Constructors’ titles and 11 Drivers’ Championships.
 
In addition, Renault organizes in Europe the World Series by Renault, an event that comprises three types of auto racing: Formula Renault 3.5 Series and Formula Renault 2.0. Sixty percent of the drivers that compete in the event are promoted to Formula 1, such as Nico Rosberg, Kimi Raïkkönen, Pastor Maldonado, Romain Grosjean, Felipe Massa and others. The Clio Cup is an auto racing event that uses a European Renault Clio similar to production models seen on the streets. The World Series is also an opportunity for Renault to organize promotional activities with its customers, such as the Track Days, with gymkhanas and fast laps using race cars.

We are back to the circuits to strengthen the competition and sportiveness that has always been associated with our brand”, said Bruno Hohmann, Marketing Director at Renault Brazil.
 
Vicar is in charge of organizing the competition and it is convinced that Renault’s participation will contribute to boost the Championship. “Our fifth consecutive season starts in 2015. It is always supported by major brands and the arrival of Renault will further strengthen its success and growth”, says Maurício Slaviero, Managing Director at Vicar.
